Meet Darryl James

Lead Wordsmith, Darryl James, Sr., has been crafting Words Tenaciously for twenty years in the music business, wordsmithing for the likes of Source Magazine, Right On, Black Beat, Vibe, Rappages, YSB and his own magazine Rap Sheet, which he founded and groomed to be the second largest rap music publication.

During his stint in the music industry, James crafted Words for Teddy Riley, Tribe Called Quest, Master P, 2 Live Crew and more. James helped to define Rap Music Journalism as a writer for The Source and went on to launch the second largest Rap Music publication, Rap Sheet.

In addition, James has been at the helm of or a crucial team member of Beverly Hills Report, California Apparel News, Soul Rydah Magazine, Womens Wear Daily, Los Angeles Sentinel, Black Men In America, New Pittsburgh Courier, Electronic Urban Report (EUR) and the New York Daily News.

James is an award-winning author (LA Riots Revolution), lecturer, syndicated columnist and the publisher of Tenacious Books, a boutique publishing house for self-publishing authors.

James has lectured for the National Council of Negro Women, the National Urban League, The Black American Law Students Association and the NAACP, in addition to radio stations, colleges and universities across the nation.James is also the author of Bridging The Black Gender Gap, the basis of a national seminar series and lecture tour and in 2009, released the powerful anthology “Notes From The Edge.

His weekly nationally syndicated column, The Bridge (www.bridgecolumn.com), deals with issues ranging from relationships to politics and from entertainment to the isms (racism, classism and sexism) since 2004.

James, a native of Chicago, graduated from California State University, Northridge, majoring in Journalism and Public Relations and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha.He is the proud father of Darryl James, Jr.
